In line with our mantra of providing ‘support for communities in need’, the NDY Charitable Trust recently provided financial assistance to a project being implemented by Rotary in Escuintla.
Creating change through greater access to water and resources, construction of a well in the remote community first required preparation of the land to allow improved vehicle access, followed by drilling and the installation of water infrastructure (including a photovoltaic solar system to support the well’s pumps), cleaning and capacity testing to ensure its suitability for agricultural use.
A new training and leadership centre provides practical space to ensure the community is involved, providing training opportunities on the development process and on grey water management, solar panel installation, apiculture and violence prevention.
